Wayne “The Train” Hancock has carved out a singular place in American roots music with the hard-driving sound he calls juke joint swing—a lively blend of honky-tonk, Western swing, Texas rockabilly, blues, and big-band rhythm.

After years of playing Texas juke joints and serving six years in the U.S. Marines, Hancock returned to music and appeared in the 1994 stage production Chippy alongside Joe Ely, Terry Allen, Butch Hancock, and Robert Earl Keen. His 1995 debut album, Thunderstorms and Neon Signs, introduced his uncompromising traditional-country sound to a wider audience.

Known for relentless touring, sharp songwriting, and high-energy live performances, Hancock brings classic country forms into the present without treating them like museum pieces. His catalog and stage show draw equally from Hank Williams-style honky-tonk, rockabilly drive, Western swing, boogie, and jazz-inflected guitar.
